The data are separated into three main categories.

Health resources describe the resources that are available for healthcare provision, including health personnel (e.g. doctors and nurses), medical facilities (e.g. hospitals and pharmacies), and medical equipment (e.g. computed tomography (CT) scanners).

Health outcomes refer to indicators that measure the level of health in a population, such as life expectancy, healthy life years, and infant mortality.

Health financing refers to the amounts that are spent on health, the functions that are funded, and the sources (public or private) of the financing.
